At the Gizińscy Medical Center, we perform surgery on varicose veins of the lower limbs.

Varicose veins of the lower limbs — these are pathologically enlarged, twisted veins of the superficial system, usually protruding above the skin. Untreated varicose veins may lead to complications, inflammation, thrombosis and skin lesions in the lower limbs, such as ulcers.

Surgery to remove varicose veins in the lower limbs usually gives great cosmetic results and brings relief due to the disappearance of ailments such as pain, feeling of heaviness in the legs, tingling, numbness in the legs, etc.

The treatments used to treat venous disease of the lower limbs involve:

• minor surgical trauma,
• short treatment time,
• small scars,
• quick recovery,
• you go home on the day of surgery,
• low risk of failure and low recurrence of varicose veins.

Methods of surgical treatment of varicose veins of the lower limbs

1) Classic method:

• removal of varicose veins,
• cryosurgery – removal of varicose veins using a special probe freezing the inside of the vein. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia or intrathecal anaesthesia. The patient is discharged home the next day.

2) Endovascular method, e.g.:

• laser – laser ablation of superficial venous trunks EVLT (Endo Venous Laser Treatment). The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. The patient is discharged home on the day of the procedure.
• glue – closing superficial veins using Vena Block System tissue adhesives. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. The patient is discharged home on the day of the procedure.

3) Sclerotherapy (obliteration, injection of varicose veins) — a procedure that closes blood vessels. An obliterating substance is injected into the lumen of the vein, causing fibrosis and permanent closure of the vein. Before the procedure, a qualifying visit to a vascular surgeon and a Doppler ultrasound are required. The procedure usually takes 15-20 minutes and is virtually painless.
