Sclerotherapy (obliteration, injection of varicose veins, so-called spider veins) – a procedure aimed at closing blood vessels. It consists in injecting a sclerosing fluid into the lumen of the vein, causing fibrosis and permanent anastomosis of the vein. A qualifying visit to a vascular surgeon and a Doppler ultrasound test are required for the procedure. All preparation for the procedure is provided by the doctor during the consultation. The complete procedure takes only 15-20 minutes and is virtually painless.
