[NEW] Intestinal microbiota transplantation using the capsule method at the Gizińscy Medical Centre
The patients of the Gizińscy Medical Center may benefit from intestinal microbiota transplantation using the innovative capsule method.
An innovation in the fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is a specially developed, tested intestinal flora, which the patient receives in the form of capsules. The capsules have double acid-resistant and enteric cover. The preparation is released in the most appropriate place, i.e. on the border between the small intestine and large intestine.
A meta-analysis of studies on the effectiveness of intestinal microbiota transplantation indicates that the capsules are as effective as a microbiota transplantation performed by means of colonoscopy or gastric tube. The amount of material (microbiota) is the same as in the classical method.
Experience shows that capsules for microbiota transplantation are best tolerated by patients.
Indications for fecal microbiota transplantation:
– recurrent enteritis caused by Clostridioides (formerly Clostridium) difficile;
– intestinal dysbiosis caused by long-term antibiotic therapy or chronic use of proton pump inhibitors;
– Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth – SIBO;
– inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis);
– irritable bowel syndrome – IBS;
– colonization of the digestive tract with antibiotic-resistant bacteria;
– other in individual indications or experimental treatment.
The intestinal microbiota transplantation program using the capsule method at the Gizińscy Medical Center is run by dr n.med. Pawel Rajewski, professor WSNoZ, who qualifies patients for the procedure and supervises its proper course. On a daily basis, he is a specialist in internal medicine, an infectious disease specialist, a hepatologist and a specialist in clinical transplantology.
