Damage to the knee joint, various injuries and degenerative changes are some of the indications for arthroscopy.

It is a diagnostic procedure that enables the assessment of structures inside the knee joint and does not require a long convalescence period. If treatment is necessary, some surgical instruments may be inserted into the joint.

Unlike other methods that require complete opening of the knee joint, the arthroscopy is relatively minimally invasive, which is a significant advantage for the patient. The incisions made during the procedure are painless and the scars are minimal. This means that the patient can be discharged home the next day.

Knee arthroscopy is most often performed in people who have suffered an injury or overload of the joint as a result of physical activity.

Other situations requiring this treatment include:

• lack of stability of movements in joints,
• recurrent swelling and pain in the joints,
• intra-articular fracture,
• periarticular cysts,
• degenerative changes,
• rheumatoid arthritis,
• presence of foreign bodies in the joint.
